Session Description

This affinity space is designed for LGBTQ+ campus and community members to cultivate connections, discuss shared experiences, and foster belonging. This is a dialogue-based space where we will engage about UW’s climate, the current sociopolitical contexts impacting us, our collective and individual needs, and/or additional topics determined by those who attend.

Please note that this session is intended to be an LGBTQ+ focused and affirming affinity space. Please connect with the facilitators if you have any questions.

Speakers

Jay Botsford

Jay (ze/zir or they/them) is the LGBTQ+ Employee Retention Specialist in the Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Employee Well-Being (EIEW) at UW-Madison. Ze has more than 20 years of experience advocating for LGBTQ+ justice in Wisconsin and as a social justice organizer and educator. Jay has worked at UW-Madison since 2016 in a variety of roles, including as a transgender health justice advocate and antiracist learning community facilitator, prior to joining the EIEW team. Ze also earned a Master in Public Health with a focus on health equity and social justice in 2023.

Nandi Nandihalli

Nandi (he/they/she) serves as the Health Equity & Well-Being Specialist in the Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Employee Well-Being at UW–Madison. Nandi has been working in the fields of social justice and holistic health for over a decade and has a background in cross-cultural research, teaching, and training. Nandi earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Biology and is also a UW–Madison alumni where they earned their Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. Nandi grew up in the American South and brings their lived experience as a queer, trans, person of color.
